Group Rides
As part of the ECU Race Team, members are asked to try to participate in as many group rides as possible in an attempt to provide further exposure for the team. In addition to many of the local rides, the ECU Race Team has initiated several rides of their own. These rides are used for training purposes and therefore require a high level of cycling skill to participate. Below is an outline of the ECU Race Team group rides, as well as, other rides that our riders consistently participate in.
Monday Night
Ride - Clockwise around the river. First hour is at a social pace followed by 30 - 45 min at race pace. The ride starts from Leederville at 6.20 and returns at approximately 8.00. During daylight savings lights are not required; however, they are highly recommended during all other times. After the ride, riders are encouraged to visit the local Leederville coffee shops for a quick cup before heading home.

Saturday Morning
Ride - This ride is negotiable as to the start time and ride route. Start times are usually between 7 - 8.30 am in Leederville. The normal ride time is approximately 3 - 4 hours and usually involves a route through the hills of Kalamunda. The pace to the hills is casual; however, this will quickly change once the hills are reached. There are several re-grouping spots along the way, so no rider is left behind. By the groups discretion, there is often no stopping for coffee in the hills. Once the ride has returned to Leederville, all riders are encouraged to visits Sayers Café for a cup of coffee and an excellent muffin to refuel from the ride.

Saturday Morning JCC
Ride - This ride has been a staple ride in the Joondalup area for the past four years. Riders meet at the Joondalup Arena for a 6 am start time. Given the amount of riders, there may be several groups leaving at different times, based on ability. The ride heads North towards Two Rocks before making its way back into Joondalup. The ride pace is dependent on the group; however, can be very fast at times. There are several sprint points along the way, so look out! Once back in Joondalup the riders will gather at one of the local coffee shops for a few cups before heading home to the weekend “to do” lists.

Thursday Morning
Ride - The Thursday morning ride starts from Sayer’s Café at 6.30 am. This ride follows a similar route to the Monday night ride, with a few changes. The pace is moderate and riders are encouraged to keep a constant and sustainable pace for all riders. Heading North up West Coast Hwy, the pace does pick up; however, the ride does finish as a group. The ride ends with a nice cruise into Leederville and coffee and muffins from Sayer’s Café.
